There is one body and one Spirit–just as you were called to one hope when you were called–
From him the whole body, joined and held together by every supporting ligament, grows and builds itself up in love, as each part does its work.
Ephesians 4:4, 16 NIV
Watch a soccer player get the ball in the back, and try to take it all the way up the field. He might beat a couple of players, maybe a third player. He isn’t going to make it up the field and score a goal. By this time the defense is collapsing on him. He doesn’t know where his teammates are and he isn’t going to be able to make a good pass. Usually he runs out of energy and the ball is taken away from him. It isn’t as obvious in basketball. But over the length of a game, the guy that always tries to do it himself hurts the team more than he helps it.
When you can make your teammates better — a good pass at the right time is one way: then you start seeing how good you can all be as a team.
