Word Up — “Where’s that donkey, I need some guidance right now!”

1 Corinthians 3:21 So then, no more boasting about human leaders! All things are yours, whether Paul or Apollos or Cephas or the world or life or death or the present.

First of all Paul who wrote this verse inspired by God and Apollos represent the Christian church in such that we have direct contact to the father thru Jesus, back then called the way and they can be compared to a Billy Graham, Rick Warren or Greg Laurie of these times. Cephas was more like a high priest or pope that represents Catholic church practices in such that people would confess their sins to a priest and the priest would take up their case with God on the peoples behalf. Back then they brought offerings these days they bring confessions. In any case Paul is reaching out to all who seek faith in God, regardless of religious practices.

So back to the verse, I think we all take some pride in our pastors because of their great leadership and the impact they’ve made in our lives. Some to go as far as I need prayer specifically from the head pastor of my church…only his prayer will fix my situation. Paul is saying in this verse that God is the voice we are hearing and our leaders are only vessels, instruments in which God uses to speak to us. The bible says God even used a donkey to speak his words. Can you imagine being in a tuff situation and saying “where’s that donkey, I need some guidance right now!”

So it’s great to take council from our pastors but we shouldn’t boast in them by turning an ear away from other ways God chooses to speak to us. The verse goes on to say that “all things are yours, Paul, Apollos, Cephas, the world, life, death or the present”.

To me, this simply means God will use anything and everything to speak to us. It could be the life of a new born baby that makes you see God or the death of someone close to reveal life is short and you need to know God while you are living. It could be the world and all God has blessed you with that you come to appreciate him and choose to follow him or it could be what that world hasn’t given you that only God can.

Alright everyone, utilize your resources and boast in no other name than that of Jesus Christ.

This is the story of a young girl as she encounters sex, love, romance, marriage and relationship with a guy. She starts out thinking that maybe she is good looking and might be acceptable to a guy. She becomes strong and confident in who she is and in her ability to bring contentment to her husband.
