Word up — watch how he rewards you.

Hebrews 11:6 He is a rewarder of them that diligently seek him

When we become believers there’s a few things that happen. We admit we are sinners, we ask Jesus into our hearts and we turn from our previously sinful life thru the help of the holy spirit which is Christ in us. In this package deal we are to put our trust in the Lord going forward.

But… Here lies the problem. Our thinking, choices, behavior, passions, desires, pleasures are all a work in progress as we grow. Although my eternal destination changed immediately, my new relationship didn’t change me overnight. I say this not to ok our sinful lifestyles but to encourage you with the promise of this verse.

The bible and it’s laws, along with conviction seem set out to destroy our previous lives and lets face it, we like alot about ourselves and it was maybe just one thing that brought us to Christ… everything else we are trying to keep and certainly we don’t consider Jesus being a “REWARDER” if we can’t continue in some of those things. Maybe it’s drinking, internet activity, drugs, sinful relationships, power, money whatever it is it will never be as rewarding as what God wants to do in our life. It’s just hard to trust in that because we know ourselves so good and we are used to rewarding ourselves.

Like any relationship trust takes time. Like any deal, we want something better than what we already have and this verse is saying that if you invest the time in seeking Jesus, trusting him, being obedient here’s what he’s going to do and has done in my life. Yes, he’s taken things I enjoy away in my life, told me to stay away from things I like but for everything he has taken he has replaced with something better. He’s taken one high and replaced it with the most high. He’s taken meaningless music and replaced it with music for my soul. He’s taken friends that brought me down and replaced them with friends that lift me up. He’s taken a lustful eye and gave me a wife to use it on:) He gives and takes away and both are rewards.

He had me at eternity yet he is rewarding me even as I write this to you as I am reminded of all the things he has done in my life. Let him deal with “every area” of your life and not just the one that brought you to him and watch how he rewards you.

Song of Solomon Study

This is the story of a young girl as she encounters sex, love, romance, marriage and relationship with a guy. She starts out thinking that maybe she is good looking and might be acceptable to a guy. She becomes strong and confident in who she is and in her ability to bring contentment to her husband. A major part of the book is written in her voice: What she says, what she thinks, what she hears him saying. This little book in the Bible can provide some powerful insights.
