Psalms 84:10 Better is one day in your courts than thousands elsewhere. I would rather be a doorkeeper in the house of my God than dwell in the tents of the wicked.
Sometimes there are things in my life I wish I can still do but than I play them thru in my mind and know instantly the destruction they bring. Rather it’s subtle or extreme God has lifted the vail from my eyes and I see clearly what is good for me and my walk with Jesus and I embrace it with thankfulness.
The most important thing you need to know about this verse is that it was written by a king. Nobody reading this can match the pleasures and power in his life. Whatever your goals, fantasies, possessions are they wouldn’t even come close, this guy had it all and yet he says “Better is one day in your courts than thousands elsewhere. He’s saying out of all the things he’s experienced in life rather sexual, entertaining, power possessing it’s even “more pleasing” to be under God’s judgment not only that but he says for one day. One day with the Lord than thousands elsewhere.
This is huge because there is a misconception that a Godly life is a boring life. Our walks should speak the words of King David to those around us. Let’s live life in the victory and joy he has given us in eternal life.
Then Kind David goes on to say “I would rather be a doorkeeper in the house of my God than dwell in the tents of the wicked”. A king would rather be a butler, that’s deep. Oh snap! the Lords speaking to me as I right this…check this out ya’ll…
Isn’t this what Jesus did for us. Jesus our king left his kingdom to come to earth as a man and dwell among the wicked to be our butler. To serve and cater to our needs, our needs of a savior and sacrifice his life. Wow! what a birthday present, thank you Lord.
Let’s live in the truth of that verse so all can see.
