Happy Monday y’all
Psalms 23:1 The Lord is my shepherd, I shall not want…
Shall not want what? the answer, anything! I don’t know about you but there’s alot of things I want. Basketball shoes, a new car, new beds for my girls even a house while I’m at it. The verse here simply states that the Lord is our provider, we shall want anything outside of him.
To a sheep, a shepherd is everything they need. They feed them, protect them from predators and they guide them. Did you know a sheep can walk off a cliff and the ones behind it would pretty much follow them off the cliff…that’s how dumb they are. Much like us, we can watch the downfall of our shepherdless elders and then walk down that same path of destruction.
So… I can want new basketball shoes but without my shepherd, my game will be compromised with evil. I can want a new car but without my shepherd, It will only transport me to sin faster and I can even take some sheep with me. I can want new beds for my girls but without my shepherd, what are they resting in? I can want a new house, but without my shepherd…you get the point.
In a nutshell…Let God do the wanting in your life and you just focus on wanting him. Nobody knows more what you want then him because that awesome feeling you have when you receive something you want…he created that. Let God be God.
