1 Kings 3:9 Please make me wise and teach me the difference between right and wrong. Then I will know how to rule your people. If you don’t, there is no way I could rule this great nation of yours.
Quick background: Verse written by King Solomon son of King David. The verses that led to this is God asking Solomon what may I grant you with for being a faithful servant and now king. Solomon’s fear of leading a nation superceded all the obvious things a king would ask for and entitled to for that matter. A large castle, servants, riches, the finest wine, power the list goes on but nevertheless…he chose wisdom and was recorded the most wise of all before him.
Though we are not kings the bible says “Ask anything in my name and it will be given to you” wow! we have been given the same offer as a king. God was very pleased with his request and with wisdom God also threw in a package deal including all those things mentioned above and much more.
I want to point out the most important part about this verse. Solomon’s heart. His heart was right, that’s the whole reason God came to him wanting to bless. That’s the whole reason he knew what to ask for and that’s the whole reason God honored his request.
Now…our offer… “Ask anything in my name” his name, not our name people…if you want to be blessed like King Solomon was you have to be filled with King Jesus. Do some deep cleaning. Evaluate your lifestyle, make sure God our king is welcome in any part of your life. If there’s areas you see that need fixin, repent of those things and he’ll send a clean up crew asap.
Now…when your hearts right, you can ask with the right motives and God is eager to bless those who are about his business. When I say his business it doesn’t always mean ministry. It might be more hours at work you need for peace of mind so you’re not distracted from bible reading time worrying about bills. It might strength to stay away from friends that are a bad influence. It might be as Solomon asked for, wisdom…God knows what we need.
Well if you’re looking for a Heavenly hookup remember, he’s eager to bless those that ask with the right heart.
