Psalms 23:2 He makes me lie down in green pastures, he leads me beside quiet waters
So…lay down in green pastures?? that sounds pretty relaxing to me. I think to truly hear from God and feel his presence, we have to find a way to get away for a minute to hear him. Jesus went to a garden to pray. I do it in bed or in my car. God knows we are busy, stressed, confused, fearful etc. so he “makes” us lie down in green pastures. Get the visual here, laying down our problems before him and where are we looking? That’s right, we’re looking up to the answer, receiving direction, comfort, motivation, strength what ever it is our answer is in the green pastures looking up. For every horizontal problem, there’s a vertical answer.
Then… he leads me beside the quiet waters. To me, this means resting in fact you turned the problem over to God and whatever hostile situation it caused has now been silenced so you can now hear the those quiet waters. So many times in my life I’ve prayed to be delivered from something and when I’m done praying about it I take it right back and struggle with it some more. So this verse is a great reminder…
The green pastures is a place you’ve found or need to find to spend time with God. The quiet waters is confirmation you’ve actually turned it over to God and now trusting in him to take care of your situation. they work together for your good. Use them daily.
