Mark 8:35 Whosoever shall lose his life for my sake and the gospel’s, the same shall save it.
Immediately we think of death and although it’s a possibility I think there’s much more to this verse that takes place before something to the extent of death would even happen. If we were to read this verse as follows “Whosoever shall lose his lifestyle for my sake and the gospel’s, the same shall save it. It begins with our lifestyles, our lifestyles must die. If the gospel doesn’t change us from who we once were, we have to question our salvation. The bible says we all fall short of Gods standards and we need a savior to redeem us. That means this verse applies to all of us, even the cool people:)
So don’t be discouraged with this verse…we don’t need to focus on death because to be absent in the body, is to be present with the Lord. We are however to focus on life, eternal life that begins with us losing our worldly lives for his sake, meaning whatever it takes to convey the message that all things are new in our lives, we need to be in prayer about doing. Don’t worry…God preserves what he has blessed us with in our lives and like I tell people, I never had to change a thing in my life, Jesus did it for me.
