Word up — don’t overlook where God wants to work

Proverbs 22:13 The sluggard says, “There’s a lion outside! I’ll be killed in the public square!”

Oh how this verse speaks to me. In almost every profitable endeavor I shoot it down and accomplish nothing and that’s just the physical aspect of it. Or is it? As believers we have to remember that God is going to put things continually on our hearts to do. It’s not just preaching and sharing and praying. There are things we can confuse ourselves with as worldly that he calls us to do as well. Your jobs, investments, profitable ideas, networking are all areas God would say I can use you in that too.

For example, I’ve been struggling with this T-Shirt business idea for what seems like forever and every time I start to get my feet wet I overwhelm myself with all the things that go into it. What type of material, what message on the shirt, what color, where am I going to sell them, how are they going to pay, what about taxes at the end of the year, etc. That’s my lion outside waiting to kill me in the public square.

The bible says in 1 Peter 5:8 that your enemy the devil prowls around like a roaring lion looking for someone to devour. If you notice he doesn’t say he is a roaring lion, he is “LIKE” a roaring lion. He’s not a lion, but can seem like one only to the sluggard. The sluggard right now is me. I’m overwhelmed and fearful of the so called lion because of laziness. I haven’t really taken the time to understand the whole process as I would say, finding out who’s going to be on the Lakers in 2014.  I’ve thoroughly analyzed that. Two, I have to understand that God is with me and if he is for me, who can be against me. Not a wanna be lion that’s for sure.

My message to you thru this verse is don’t overlook where God wants to work, he is in the business of taming lions, read the story of Daniel. Yes he wants us in bible studies, attending church, sharing but God also puts us in places, positions and financial situations, he gives us profitable ideas to provide for ourselves and to show others how he blesses his people.

Sorry guys, I think I just motivated myself but hope it spoke to someone.

Song of Solomon Study

This is the story of a young girl as she encounters sex, love, romance, marriage and relationship with a guy. She starts out thinking that maybe she is good looking and might be acceptable to a guy. She becomes strong and confident in who she is and in her ability to bring contentment to her husband. A major part of the book is written in her voice: What she says, what she thinks, what she hears him saying. This little book in the Bible can provide some powerful insights. Are you ready to give it a try? Study Song of Solomon
