The Bible in 10 Minutes

September 28, 2011 By OTB Webmaster Leave a Comment

This old video has been copied and rerecorded and the edited version has been lost that shows a couple with a baby sitting and listening to Fred. You might be able to hear the baby a few times, mixed in with all the other background noise. The message on it that God wants to have a relationship with you, is true. I give the reason I’ve kept this version and not reshot it in the story below the video.

I was in charge of the Wednesday night classes for children at our church. We were all volunteers. Each week I had all the students and all the teacher walk up in front and say something. One week I asked them to share one thing from their summer vacation.

One teacher walked up and announced that she was really happy that she had gotten pregnant. This was an issue because she was a single mom at the time. She didn’t see a problem with sex outside of marriage. Her seventh grade son had a different take on it. He walked into the class that I taught, slumped down in a chair and announced “My mom is a SLUT’.

The mom and I met to discuss this. Actually I would line up a meeting time with her and then she would have some reason to cancel. The fourth time that we lined up a meeting, she had forgotten about it, so when I showed up at her house we were able to meet.

By this time her boy friend was now living with them. We talked, we disagreed. She said that it was fine that she was having sex because babies are from God. I said, you can’t teach for me any longer.  Her boyfriend listened to the whole thing and said he didn’t know anything about this Christian stuff.

Results:

  1. An elder thanked me for taking action. The board was just trying to ignore it and hope it would go away
  2. The minister, Fred, thanked me for being the bad guy. He talked with the couple, starting with this ten minute talk. Eventually the guy became a Christian, married the girl, and starting growing in a relationship with God.
  3. We all became friends and the couple agreed to be in the video and they brought the baby with them. The part that cuts back and forth between Fred and the couple is the part that is lost.  And maybe that is just as well. When you check out the video, picture Fred talking directly to you.   God wants a relationship with you.
  4. God knows show you are, he know everything that you have done and even all of your thoughts, and He still want a relationship with you.
  5. The rest of the story is yours. God wants a relationship with you. What is your response to Him?

Song of Solomon Study

This is the story of a young girl as she encounters sex, love, romance, marriage and relationship with a guy. She starts out thinking that maybe she is good looking and might be acceptable to a guy. She becomes strong and confident in who she is and in her ability to bring contentment to her husband. A major part of the book is written in her voice: What she says, what she thinks, what she hears him saying. This little book in the Bible can provide some powerful insights. Are you ready to give it a try? Study Song of Solomon
