… if anyone competes as an athlete, he does not receive the victor’s crown unless he competes according to the rules.
II Timothy 2:5 NIV
Learn the rules of the game that you are playing. It helps you in the split second decisions. In soccer when it comes to the end line or side line, whether it is in bounds or not depends on where the ball is in relation to the line The whole ball has to be across the line to be out. Also it doesn’t matter if the ball is in the air or on the ground. If it goes outside the on line it is out. The player might step out of bounds but be able to keep the ball in bounds. In basketball the ball is out if it touches the ground out of bounds, or it touches a player who is touching the floor out of bounds. Too many players learn the some of the rules but blow plays just because they didn’t know a particular rule.
