These guys were part of a team that Moses put together. Any idea what they did?
How about Caleb and Joshua?
They were all part of the same team. A team of 12 spies that Moses sent to scout out the land that God told them they would take over.
10 of the guys brought back a report: They are too big and too scary. Sure the land is great, but can’t take them on.
Joshua and Caleb saw the same things, but knew that with God they could do it.
The people sided with the 10. God said, you are right you won’t take the land. Every adult except Joshua and Caleb will die in the wilderness. Your kids will be the ones that take the land.
And they wandered around for 40 years until all of them died. Oh yeah, Joshua and Caleb led the people in and they took over the land.
When I was on the freshman basketball team, our coach had a friend who scouted the other teams. Then our coach would tell us that this player was a great shooter and this team could fast break well. He would tell us all of their strengths. We would go into the game intimidated. I was watching a practice at HIU last week. The coach told them the other teams strengths and used some of the guys to show how they run their offense. Then he started explaining HOW to defeat them in their strengths.
Coaches, it is fine to point out what the other team does successfully, but have a plan for how your guys can deal with it.
Joshua and Caleb gave the plan to the people, but the people rejected it. When all the old people died off they got a new team who were read;y to work the game plan.
Players, if coach comes up with a plan, work hard at executing it. Then if it isn’t working, he can change the plan.
If you reject his plan, he won’t wait for you to die off. He will bring someone off the bench who will try to execute the plan.
