But we have this treasure in jars of clay, to show that the surpassing power belongs to God and not to us.
II Corinthians 4:7 ESV
We are like jars of clay. Some bigger or shorter, fatter or thinner, but we all have this in common. We can be filled with living water, with Jesus. People can see this and realize that there is something inside of you that helps you play harder, better, stronger than they would expect looking at your body.
Try this. Go to a game where you haven’t seen the teams play. Try to pick out the starters, before they start taking off sweats and making it obvious. You can’t always tell from looking at a stat sheet or watching them shoot layups before the game.
And try another thing. Try to pray during the game. When you are on the court, when the clock is running. I’m not suggesting closing your eyes and folding your hands. I’m not suggesting a long prayer. Just the act of taking God with you onto the court.
Maybe something like one of these:
Thank you for the opportunity
Thanks you for the body that I have
