Consider it pure joy, my brothers, whenever you face trials of many kinds, because you know that he testing of your faith develops perseverance. Perseverance musts finish its work so that you may be mature and complete, not lacking anything NIV James 1:2-4
When you face different situations it helps you to grow. In practice the coach may say that you can only dribble with your off hand. Or he might say that you can’t dribble at all. If you are working against the press he might add a sixth player on defense. He might come up with drills that require lots of running.
It isn’t punishment, or unfair. He is trying to teach you how to handle different situations, different trials. I like to get players to act like a crowd during freethrows. This isn’t picking on players, it is helping them be prepared for the big freethrows in a game.
Perseverance is being physically and mentally tough. Able to stay strong when bad calls are being made. When things aren’t normal.
The benefit: mature, complete, not lacking anything. You need all of that is you are going to compete at the highest level possible for you.
