1 John 1:4 We write this to make our joy complete.
Here’s what was written before this great verse:
That which was from the beginning, which we have heard, which we have seen with our eyes, which we have looked at and our hands have touched—this we proclaim concerning the Word of life. 2 The life appeared; we have seen it and testify to it, and we proclaim to you the eternal life, which was with the Father and has appeared to us. 3 We proclaim to you what we have seen and heard, so that you also may have fellowship with us. And our fellowship is with the Father and with his Son, Jesus Christ. 4 We write this to make our[a] joy complete.
I love the last verse here. We write this to make our joy complete. Are they saying their joy isn’t complete until they write this? No… their joy isn’t complete until we read this truth about Jesus. Their struggles, persecutions, sacrifices, their promise of Heaven and the death some experienced or were going to…yet their joy isn’t complete until we read and know this truth about Jesus. They lived and died for Jesus and are in Heaven but their joy is complete in us.
They had joy while living under circumstances we will probably never have to experience, but the joy of ministry which is a high-tech word for sharing made their joy complete. Right now they are in Heaven and hoping we pass this torch to those around us. If you are truly saved then you have joy in eternal life amen for that but it is made complete when we share this joy with others. If we only keep salvation to ourselves we are settling for the joy minimum.
Find your joy in eternal life and Maximize your joy by sharing it with others. Share it with yourself in the privacy of your home or in your car. Practice speaking out loud as if you were talking to someone you might have in mind. I do it all the time and find it very helpful to vocally know my faith and sometimes funny…very funny the tactics I come up with to get the point across.
Alright everyone, have a very blessed week.
